a cyclist was hit and killed by a school bus today, right outside my son's school. we saw the terrible aftermath right as we got there in the morning (i did anyway; i think he didn't realize what was going on), and it is just so saddening and infuriating.

since moving here, i've ranted to many folks about the terrible car culture here. unfortunately, it's not specific to this neighborhood or this city... people are fucking obscene in their cars. there's no other way to say it.

our streets are vile and deadly, and a motor vehicle is simply too much responsibility for most people. the age of the car has run its course. how many different types of bloodying do we need to start making real changes?
