Windows 7 Launch Party

no, i'm not hosting one, but the ads are great.

it's hilarious to see corporate behemoths stumble awkwardly into new marketing strategies, like the informal, conversational, social-networked un-ads of the youtube generation. (and here i am, passing on the viral video!)

i love the faux casual setting, the over-the-top organic/diy camerawork and acting, the suggested party agenda and "flow", the make-sure-it-works-before-the-party tips, and how they try to toe the line between the users they consistently degrade as idiots and the more hip/savvy audience they want to nip away from Apple. it's all so loose, fun, and spontaneous!

think about hosting your own party, and don't forget: "Hey, it helped me to remember i'm not a salesman at this party."

ohmygod...

Hey Andy...just stumbling by...

Launch parties?

Awkward is the understatement of the decade. That was so painful I can hardly believe it.

It's "just so simple that anyone can do it", but you need to "decide what activities you're going to do at least a day or two in advance", as "some activities have, uhhhhh...modest setup". Etc., etc., etc..

Oh, and don't forget to hide the black guy behind the balloons.

Hope you're doing well,

Dan (Belroy...soon to be condos!)
