If oh's are considered "solid food," then our Musie has begun to eat solids. Since tragedy has befallen the video portion of this blog (something we are hoping to have resolved soon) I will attempt to relay some of the joyous happenings that ensued. First, we sprinkled a handful of "organic Oh's" onto her cafeteria tray and watched with open mouthed smiles. She looked down at the debris, and back up to our expectant smiles. This is the wonderful world of unspoken communication. This is all of us watching each others' gears a-turning. Something is new here. Usually this type of scattered detritus is guarded and if the darting hands are able to grab one such something, it is pulled from the grasp before making it to the lips (the desired destination of every small something). However, this time the parental gaze has an expectant desire that is difficult to place, and remember, we are in the "eating place" so it would seem that green lights might be on here. Both hands shoot up and then slam down amidst the oh's and with a quick meeting of the eyes it is understood that this is going to be a permissible activity. Koruna then turns on keen focus and proceeds to explore with both pointy fingers outstretched. She has just finished her meal and has been given a cursory wipe down and so her hands are moist and stick nicely to the Oh's. She is able to touch one and retract it into her palm and create a nice protective fist around her new Oh. It proves difficult to dislodged this treasure into the ever eager mouth. She puts her whole fist in there and then takes it out, surprised that her chewing motion isn't landing on anything. She opens her hand and there is the Oh, stuck on the wet palm. She decides to bail on this first one and move back to the pile of treasure before her. Focus turns back to the tray, both pointy's extend and hone in on an Oh. They both push it all the way out to the rim of the tray and finally it is pulled into the palm and the failed delivery happens again. She tries to chew the little thing, but it is mashed in with the other one in her hand. The photo you see, is the third try. Close. Note the pointy fingers at the ready. Ain't she too much? Really. She persisted, and cherished her crunchy treats. She's on a roll, now, and can put away a handful of Oh's in 5 minutes. Today, Oh's, tomorrow she'll learn to set the traps and grill meat over the open fire while calculating the orbital trajectory of centripetal force applied to her weaponry. She's movin' on up.
