Earth Hour

i hadn't heard about this until i read a mediacology blog post this morning, but the idea behind Earth Hour is similar to the old TV Turnoff:

March 28th, 8:30pm local time, switch off your electricity for one hour

more info: http://www.earthhour.org/

350: Global Warming web site

mediacology pointed me towards 350.org today -- a(nother) site attempting to build global action in response to climate change. i've hardly cracked into the site yet, but it's interesting to see how various groups are attempting to make the issue "simple" and accessible, and inspire action, the 350.org animation being the best representation i've seen yet.

Environmental Defense's Global Warming Tips

a theme in many discussions on this site over the years is how to translate the "dreams and talk" about big, elusive, intimidating issues into action. i want to start posting some of that content here, whether it's lists that we compile or just links to other resources. (let's tag this stuff... 'action'.)

BushCo rap sheet

picking up this discussion from the remaining relevant thread... i want to keep a concise list (roughly chronological) -- for my own memory if nothing else. i also want to start adding some overview sources.

* just to set the stage : Bush's skipping out on his National Guard service

* massive pre 9-11 intelligence failures
- more here...

* subverting of science to political aims
- denial of global warming
- Cheney's closed-door energy policy (culture of secrecy)
- EPA post 9-11
- more...

* lied us into Iraqi war
