Citizen 3.0 by Kinobserver

some of you will remember Jason and Leigh Morfoot (aka Kinobserver) from their "Capital" film project, centered on the IMF conference and protests in DC many years ago.

for the past few years, thy've been working on a documentary film about copyright, how it's changing in light of digital/networked technologies, and the implications for our culture. from their web site: "CITIZEN 3.0 explores the relationship between media, technology, culture and democracy through the lens of copyright law."

recently, i helped them publish the entire film on their web site. check it out!

The Wealth of Networks

i've been reading an incredible book called The Wealth of Networks by Yochai Benkler. the subtitle is "How social production transforms markets and freedom". the title is obviously a reference to Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations, which is the original "liberal" in "neoliberal" -- the bible of modern free-marketism.

Environmental Movies

Hey -- I'm going to work on a video about where our food comes from, and how buying locally produced food is one of the most effective things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint with some fifth graders at PS 124 for The Media Spot. I needed a place to store some links to videos I may show in class or post on our school blogs. I figured I'd share them here, and encourage you all to see these flicks.
