the boy and i saw an incredible street musician on thursday at the 34th st station. the boy caught his name, thankfully: William Ruiz.

we had a bus to catch, otherwise we'd have stayed a long time and done a jig.

the video and tinny audio don't do him justice -- this guy wails.

if you live in NYC, look out for him.

i caught a Brooke Sofferman song by chance while traveling in Tucson. i liked it enough to buy the album, Fine Whines, and unlike any other jazz album i've picked up recently, it's really sticking with me. Sofferman plays drums and writes the songs... great stuff -- check it out.

kriehle and i saw Animal Collective last night -- fun show. pulsing, rhythmic stuff w/ good pop hooks if a little too much of that rockin-behind-electronic-gadgets thing and seeming fear of their own voices...
